Getting It Right

Getting it Right
Now, THIS is something we don’t always do…
“Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, And lead me in an everlasting way.” ‭‭Psalm ‭139:23-24‬ ‭AMP‬‬
Let’s face it. We SUCK at being consistently aware of things. Whether it be our actions we carry out, thoughts we process or the things we allow into our space. We don’t always do the right thing.
Sometimes, we find it hard to turn our face away from the sin that enchants us. Knowing better doesn’t always equate to doing better. BUT! Even when we get ourselves into sticky situations, God always offers a way out.
“Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favour] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment].” Hebrews ‭4:16‬ ‭AMP‬‬
“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:16‬ ‭NLT‬‬
⁃in a confident and courageous way; showing a willingness to take risks.
To me, going before the throne of grace to attain mercy, means stepping into a system of renewal. An in and out system, that allows us to be forgiven. For the slate to be wiped clean. Gods graciousness is always evident. Evident in how he loves us. Evident in the things he does for us. But mercy is different.
Mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown towards someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm. As those who have been given a law to abide by, we don’t deserve mercy! In fact, we deserve God’s wrath. But thankfully, we have a saviour that is interceding at the right hand of his Father!
God honours those who honour him.
Let’s all try to think about the wrong we do & the effect this would have on God’s heart before we decide to do it.
And IF there should be a lapse of judgement, or a moment of weakness, his throne of grace is accessible 24/7. It’s there for us!
What an awesome God we serve!
